Passkey Sign-In Option
The new Passkey feature in ReservationKey allows you to log in securely without needing to enter a password or use multi-factor authentication (MFA). This makes signing in faster, easier, and even more secure by using the built-in authentication of your device, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN.
Overview
Passkeys are a modern, passwordless login method that replaces traditional credentials with device-based authentication. Once a passkey is set up, you can log in with a single tap or biometric scan instead of typing your password or entering verification codes.
Logging In with a Passkey
Once you’ve created a passkey, using it to log in is simple:
- Go to the ReservationKey login page.
- Enter your Username.
- Click the new Use Passkey button.
- Authenticate using your device method (PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID).
- You’ll be logged in automatically — no password or email code required.
If you have not yet created a passkey, follow the steps below to set one up first.
Setting Up Your Passkey
To create a passkey for your user account:
- Log in to ReservationKey as you normally would using your username and password.
- Go to Settings ? Users.
- Click Edit next to your user account.
- Find the Passkey section and click Add Passkey.
- Your device will prompt you to authenticate using one of the following:
- Enter your computer’s or phone’s PIN.
- Use Face ID or Fingerprint recognition.
- Once verified, your passkey is saved securely to your device.
That’s it — you’ve now registered your device to log in using a passkey instead of a password.
Using Multiple Devices
You can add multiple passkeys for different devices (for example, your laptop and your phone):
- Each device has its own secure, unique passkey.
- Repeat the setup process on each device where you want to enable passkey login.
Signing In with Your New Passkey
Once your passkey is set up:
- Log out of ReservationKey.
- Return to the login page and enter your username.
- Click Use Passkey.
- Authenticate using your device’s built-in security method (PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID).
- After a brief moment, you’ll be signed in automatically.
Security Notes
- Passkeys are stored securely in your device’s trusted hardware (such as Windows Hello, Apple Keychain, or Android’s security enclave).
- No password or secret information is stored on ReservationKey’s servers.
- This method is resistant to phishing and password reuse attacks.
Benefits of Using Passkeys
- Faster Login: No need to type a password or MFA code.
- More Secure: Authentication relies on device-based encryption.
- Convenient: Works seamlessly across supported devices and browsers.
- Private: Your biometric data never leaves your device.
Summary
The new Passkey feature provides a faster and more secure way to sign in to ReservationKey. Once enabled, you can log in instantly using your device’s built-in security (PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID) — eliminating the need for passwords or multi-factor codes. We recommend enabling passkeys on all your commonly used devices for the best experience.
