How do I set the system to use a status for an initial inquiry (dates not blocked until confirmed)?

Prevent Calendar Blocking for Inquiries

If you prefer to allow multiple inquiries for the same dates before confirming a booking, you can set the system so that initial online inquiries do not block the calendar. This is helpful for businesses that review or confirm reservations manually after receiving a request.

Step 1: Open Reservation Status Settings

  1. Go to the Settings tab.
  2. Select Reservation Status.

Step 2: Configure the Initial Status

  1. Find the option labeled Initial Status.
  2. Set it to Calendar Not Blocked — this is typically status #1 (for inquiries).

This ensures that when a new inquiry is submitted through your online booking page, the calendar remains available for other potential bookings.

Step 3: Set the Default Status for New Reservations

  1. Under the same Reservation Status settings, find the option labeled Default for New Reservations.
  2. Set it to status #4 (or the status you want to use for new inquiries).
  3. Click Save Changes.

Step 4: Verify Calendar Blocking Behavior

Make sure that only confirmed statuses (for example, Confirmed or Checked In) are configured to block the calendar. The initial inquiry status should not block dates, allowing multiple inquiries to come in for the same availability.

Example

For example, if “Inquiry” is status #1 and “Confirmed” is status #2, setting the default for new reservations to status #4 ensures:

This setup allows you to manage inquiries efficiently without preventing others from requesting the same dates.
