How to apply taxes to a fee.

Setting Up a Fee That Includes Tax

You can configure ReservationKey to apply taxes to specific fees such as cleaning charges, resort fees, or service fees. Follow these steps to link taxes to your fee and assign it to applicable rate plans.


Step 1: Open the Fees Section

  1. Go to the Properties tab.
  2. Click Fees.
  3. Click Add Fee or select an existing fee to edit.

Step 2: Configure Tax Settings

  1. In the fee setup window, find the Taxes section.
  2. Select which taxes should apply to this fee (for example, “Sales Tax” or “Occupancy Tax”).

Note: If you haven’t created your taxes yet, go to the Taxes section first (under the Properties tab) and set those up before returning here.


Step 3: Link Fee to Rate Plans

  1. Under the Applies To Rate Plans section, select the rate plans that should include this fee.
  2. Click Save Changes to apply the configuration.

Example

If you create a “Cleaning Fee” of $50 and select “Sales Tax” under taxes, ReservationKey will automatically add the $50 fee to each reservation using the chosen rate plan and include the associated tax amount in the total price.


Summary

Once saved, the system will automatically calculate the taxed fee for each applicable reservation.
