How to Use Stars (Icons) to Highlight Reservations

The Stars feature in ReservationKey lets you visually highlight or tag reservations using small icons. These icons can represent special notes, priority guests, maintenance alerts, or any other internal indicators you find useful.


Adding a Star to a Reservation

  1. Open or create a reservation from the Availability Calendar or Reservations tab.
  2. In the Reservation Details section, look for the Stars area near the top of the page.
  3. Click the star or icon you wish to assign to this reservation (for example, a yellow exclamation mark or a yellow star).
  4. The selected icons will now appear next to the reservation name.

Multiple icons can be assigned to the same reservation if needed.


Viewing Stars on the Calendar

After adding icons to a reservation, return to your Availability Calendar to see them displayed next to the guest’s name. You can:

This makes it easy for you or your staff to spot VIP guests, special requests, or other key information without opening the full reservation.


Customizing the Available Icons

To choose which icons (stars) are available for use and define what they mean:

  1. Go to Settings ? Preferences.
  2. Scroll to the Reservation Details section.
  3. Select which stars/icons you want to make available.
  4. For each icon, type a Description — this is what appears when you hover over the icon on the calendar.
  5. Click Save Changes when finished.
