Volcano Mist Cottage is a single cottage sanctuary specifically designed to accommodate only two people in order to celebrate privacy and enhance the quality of the guest experience. Exceptions are rarely ever made.

Cottage Rate: $485 per night (subject to change).
All rates are based on a Two Night Minimum stay for two adults in residence. A one-night reservation request or an extra person may be permitted with advance approval, and an extra surcharge may be applied. Please call or email to discuss your needs.

In Hawai'i, Short Term Vacation Rentals are subject to a State and County Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT) of 13.25% and a General Excise Tax (GET) of 4.5% for a total tax of 17.75%. Volcano Mist Cottage is a fully permitted vacation rental: Permit # STVR-19-358059; NUC-19-991.

Discounts: We offer discounts to Ohana/returning guests, kama'aina, scientists and active military personnel. We also offer discounts for longer stays. Please inquire.

Reservation Notes:

Guest check in time is 3:00 PM; check out is 11:00 AM.
Please let yourself in whenever you arrive (we will send you the cottage key code separately) but do let us know your anticipated arrival time.

Deposit, Payment and Cancellations:

We currently accept Visa and Mastercard.
At your initial booking, we automatically process a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your reservation. You may guarantee your reservation at any time with full payment. Approximately 60 days prior to your arrival date (or in the next 24 hours if your reservation is within 60 days), we will process the balance of your room charge plus taxes to guarantee the booking. At that time, we will send a confirmation/welcome letter which also contains detailed travel directions, information on the cottage key code, suggestions for things to do and other helpful information about Volcano Mist Cottage, Volcano Village and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU PRINT OUT THE LETTER AND BRING IT WITH YOU TO VOLCANO.
If you cancel your reservation prior to the 60 day deadline, you will forfeit only the initial $100 deposit as a processing fee. If you cancel during the period from 30 to 60 days prior to your scheduled arrival date, 50% of the total charges will be forfeited. For cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the arrival date, the full payment will be forfeited. Please note that we reserve the right to relocate our guests to another lodging facility if, for any reason, the cottage is not 100 percent ready for occupancy (so far, this has NEVER happened!)

Amenities at Volcano Mist Cottage include a jacuzzi and two mountain bikes. Guests assume all risks inherent in the use of these amenities. Bicycles may be used only during daylight hours and safety helmets (provided) must be worn at all times.

Note for Nature Lovers: Kilauea is especially active right now, and it is an exciting time to be able to get "up close and personal" with a volcano. Please contact the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Service at 808-985-6000 for the latest information.

Good Neighbor Policy:

Please note the following rules: 1) Volcano Mist Cottage shall not be used for commercial purposes. 2) Guest vehicles shall be parked in the designated parking area. 3) Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am during which time noise from the cottage shall not disturb adjacent neighbors. 4) Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be louder than would otherwise be associated with a residential area.
