Hi and welcome to Bishop Creek Lodge!
As one of our cabin guests this page is available to you to help you know what to expect when you arrive and what to bring to make your stay more enjoyable.
Cabin Supplies Our cabins are rustic fishing cabins. They are clean and comfortable but NOT fancy. All cabins have bathrooms and hot showers. Towels and linens are included but we do NOT have daily maid service. Fresh towels are available upon request at the office/store. The cabins all have fully-equipped kitchens and the basic essentials like flatware, plates, cups, utensils, and pots & pans. All cabins have fire pits and charcoal BBQ's for outdoor cooking. We have picnic tables and we supply a couple outdoor chairs, but bring any extra lawn chairs as you will want them.
We ask that you help our cleaning staff by leaving the cabin the way you had arrived. Any unnecessary additional cleaning required such as washing dirty dishes, throwing out left behind food, etc. will result in a cleaning fee charged to the card we have on file. We do NOT allow any fish cleaning in our cabins, but we do have a fish cleaning station located in the center of our property next to our Public Laundry Facility that you are more than welcome to use!
Wildlife Because of our rural setting you will see chipmunks, mice, mosquitoes, marmots, moths, birds, and a variety of critters that makes your stay here special; but occasionally they will explore the insides of a cabin. One type of wildlife animal that may make an appearance are bears since we are in "Bear Country." Use smart choices to prevent a bear entering your cabin or vehicle. Remove all food and beverages from your vehicles or anywhere outdoors. We have designated "Bear" trash cans on our property that we encourage you to utilize. Bishop Creek Lodge is NOT responsible for any damage done to your property by a bear or any other wildlife animal.
Phones/Electronics There are no phones or TVs in any of our cabins (bring a TV/VCR and CD's if needed), We like it this way! There is no cell reception up at our location, but we do offer free WiFi for our guests!
Occupancy The cabins vary in size and are designed for up to 2 to 8 people. We do not provide roll-away beds, inflatable beds, cots, or sleeping bags. We do not have portable cribs for babies so if you need one you must bring your own.
Check in / Check out Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Should you stay past the checkout time, this may result in the reservation being charged an additional night.
Quiet Hours Our quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. You may still enjoy your fire pit area and company, but we ask that you be mindful of any surrounding cabin guests.

Please do not leave your pet unattended inside or outside the cabins. Remember it is your responsibility to pick up after them. Any damage done to the property of Bishop Creek Lodge caused by your pet will result in the card on file being charged accordingly for any repairs.
Smoking We are 100% smoke free in all of our cabins, however smoking outside your cabin is permitted. We ask that you use the provided ashtrays for any smoking butts. Should smoking occur anywhere inside the cabin or should the cabin smell of smoke upon your departure, there will be a mandatory cleaning fee of $100.00 charged to the credit card on file.

Fire Pits/BBQ'S We ask that when it comes to the use of your fire pit or BBQ, you extinguish them out COMPLETELY before turning in for the night. We love our little piece of heaven in the mountains and hope everyone does their part in trying to make sure it remains that way!

Weather Weather in the Eastern Sierra is very unpredictable. Usually we will have warm days (70-75) with cool nights (45-50). If you are lucky we often get afternoon showers that last about one hour then clear off. So bring a variety of clothing including a raincoat or parka. If you plan to hike bring good shoes and sunscreen. There are many easy hiking trails close by or horseback riding is available through Rainbow Pack Outfitters (phone 760-873-4153) in this canyon or Bishop Pack Outfitters (phone 760-873-4785) in the Lake Sabrina canyon.
Fishing Fishing and hiking are the most popular activities in the area, but lots of folks come up for photography, painting, sightseeing or just relaxing in the mountains. The fishing in Bishop Creek and South Lake is famous for the High Sierra Rainbows, Alpers Trophy Trout, and especially the elusive Brown Trout. There are miles of river to fish as well as South Lake and Lake Sabrina. They have full boat rental and free launching facilities. Tackle should be standard trout gear (flies, lures, worms, etc.) and fairly light line (2-6 lb.). Trolling at the lakes is very popular with a variety of lures and other gear. Lead core line is popular for deep fishing. We have all the tackle necessary and our staff can assist you in selecting whatever you need. We have geared our shops for the Bishop Creek area and we fish as often as possible. Please do not hesitate to ask for any advice!
With a short hike (1.5 - 2.5 hrs.) you will be in the most pristine wilderness of the Eastern Sierra. Most hikes and back country lakes are located within the John Muir Wilderness Area. Brook and Golden trout are readily available in the back country lakes around the canyon. Again light tackle is key to catching these fish. You can ask any of the people at the lodge for advice on hiking and fishing in the area, maps are available. If you plan on any outdoor action be sure to bring a camera because the vistas are breathtaking.
We have tried to answer some of the most asked questions and remind you of some of the most forgotten items. We hope this information will help you to prepare for your vacation. Again, be sure to check all of the arrival and departure data on your confirmation sheet and remember our rural, mountain setting when you pack. The Eastern High Sierra is some of the most beautiful terrain in the world and Bishop Creek Canyon is one of the grandest areas of the Sierra. We sit on the edge of the John Muir Wilderness Area.
We are looking forward to your visit and are sure you will have a great time! If you have any other questions please do not hesitate in calling 760-873-4484 or email us at bishopcreekresort@gmail.com.
